Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew is calm regarding the current defensive situation at Sport's Direct Arena.
The Magpies were unsuccessful in their bid to sign Adrian Mariappa from Watford on transfer deadline day and also allowed James Tavernier to join MK Dons on loan.
That leaves Pardew with just Fabricio Coloccini, Mike Williamson and James Perch as players who can play at centre-back but the Toon boss is not too concerned.
"I would like to have had a defender, but Perch did well at Brighton.
"You have to say that when he has come in he has done OK. He has boosted me a little bit on that front.""We can hold fire now for the centre-half and we can probably get a better deal when we do," he told The Chronicle.
