Newcastle boss Pardew calls in Barton to rattle Arsenal tonight

Joey Barton is set for a shock start in a Newcastle United shirt tonight against Arsenal.

The Daily Mail says Barton will start for Newcastle United on Saturday evening after being brought back to the side for the season's opener at home to Arsenal.

The controversial midfielder, who has been on the verge of leaving St James' Park for nearly a fortnight, has been sensationally recalled by Newcastle manager Alan Pardew and trained with the first team on Friday morning following talks between the pair.

Pardew has decided to start with the player widely regarded as Newcastle's most consistent and dangerous in the past two seasons as he looks to capitalise on the absence of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri from the Arsenal side.

Newcastle also welcome back Cheik Tiote, who has missed most of pre-season due to visa problems in Africa, and gives new signing Yohan Cabaye his first start after his £5million switch from Lille.
