Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has confirmed plans to buy a new striker this month.
Leading goalscorer Loic Remy is on loan from QPR and long-term Magpie Shola Ameobi's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, which could leave Senegal international Papiss Cisse as the club's only striker come the summer.
Pardew said: "I do think the striker department is an area we could possibly look at because Shola's contract ends, Remy is not our player and that leaves Papiss on his own, really.
"We should have more than that, so that's an area I am looking at."
