Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has admitted interest in Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd.
Bothroyd is off contract in June.
Pardew said: "Bothroyd is a player I admire.
"I has a meeting this week with the owner and we decided we want to keep the core of our squad together."
