Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is unsure about securing Danny Guthrie to a new deal.
Pardew was meant to meet with Guthrie's agent last week but the summit didn't happen. The United boss hopes to get round the table for talks in the next seven days.
"I haven't had the chat yet. But I will be," he told the Sunday Sun. "These contract negotiations are going to be difficult for him. But he's in a good place and he needs to remember the grass isn't always greener."He is clearly a big fan of a player who has excelled when handed opportunities this season but is warning him - just as he did with Danny Simpson - that he has to be aware of the benefits of staying at St James' Park.
