Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew admits Geordie pair Paul Dummett and Sammy Ameobi have impressed in preseason.

Pardew admits the form of Ameobi and Dummett has given him food for thought.

"I have always had that policy of keeping everyone motivated and everyone with the group. Sometimes somebody pops out," said Pardew.

"At the minute Sammy and Dummy have put their head above the parapet and now they have to stay there. That's the hard bit."
