Newcastle boss Padrew happy chairmen standing ground against player power

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew is pleased to see Premier League rivals stand their ground over star player sales.

Luis Suarez, Wayne Rooney and Gareth Bale have all courted big-money moves from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham respectively this summer.

Pardew told the Daily Express: "It has been an important stance this summer by some owners to stand up against player power, against some players who obviously want to move on.

"The owners have been strong - and that has been an important message to everyone. We need to make sure that if players move on, it is right for the club."
