Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear is determined to hold onto Michael Owen beyond the January transfer window.

Owen has been linked with Manchester City and Manchester United this week, but the Daily Star says Kinnear will fight to hang on to Owen, Nicky Butt and keeper Shay Given, who are free to talk to rival clubs with their contracts running out.
