Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear has no doubts handing the club captaincy to Nicky Butt.

"He is a true professional and a leader of men, with a vast amount of experience," Kinnear told the Evening Chronicle.

"Let's not try and ignore the fact that these are difficult times for Newcastle United, and we need people like Nicky Butt to show an example."
