Newcastle United boss Joe Kinnear declared Shay Given the best goalkeeper in the Premiership, despite the Irishman conceding five against Liverpool yesterday.

He said: "Liverpool were head and shoulders above us. We are not that strong in depth, which was there for all to see.

"We were always second-best but I wasn't happy at the way we conceded from set-plays.

"It was one-sided because they are a world-class side. The only positive to come out of the game was that Shay Given proved he's the best keeper in the Premier League."
