Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton has thrown down the gauntlet to young striker Nile Ranger.
Hughton had previously indicated that Ranger could be loaned out to a Football League side next season.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "The decision's not 100 per cent been made.
"As with Fraser Forster last season, there's a thought that we would have been better off keeping him here because he's a quality, young goalkeeper.
"We have to think about player development, and young players come into that one. That's where we will be with Nile.
"We haven't made a decision on whether we'll loan him out or not."
