Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton says Steven Taylor is five weeks away from a playing return.
Taylor was originally ruled out at the end of July for three months, but there were indications from the Taylor camp that he could be available to play by the end of this month.
But Hughton told the Evening Chronicle: "As far as Steven is concerned, we are still looking at about five weeks or so.
"We'll continue to assess his situation like we would with any injury.
"He still has a part to play for Newcastle."
