Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is close to naming his new reserves coach.
United expect to appoint a replacement for Alan Thompson, now of Celtic, before the start of pre-season training.
Martin Scott has applied for the role, while Steve Stone is another contender after impressing while working as part of the Academy set-up.
Hughton says it is an important role in his coaching set-up.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "It is up to us to make a decision and it is a very important decision.
"That role is an important one because we have a good development group and we want them to come through and play a part in the first team as soon as possible."
