Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is happy for Steve Stone to gain experience in his temporary assistant's role.
Newcastle's coaching squeeze has allowed Stone to get plenty of experience working with the first team.
He is not understood to be a candidate to become assistant manager, although he clearly might be in the future.
"He may not have the experience as a coach but Steve is an experienced former footballer," Hughton explained.
"He's gaining experience with every passing week and from being around a group of players and what we do. He'll certainly be better for the experience."
