Newcastle boss Hughton counting on 50,000-plus for Forest clash

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is banking on their biggest crowd for the season tomorrow night against Nottingham Forest.

A victory would take the Magpies 13 points clear of third-placed Forest with a game in hand as the season nears its conclusion, and Hughton is hopeful the fans will turn out in good enough numbers to smash the Championship record of 49,644 they set against Middlesbrough before Christmas.

He told the club's official website: "We've got the best home record in the country because we've got the best fans in the country.

"They have turned out in huge numbers at St James' Park all season.

"It's fantastic to have that backing and a crowd of 50,000 would be testament to their support this season and devotion to the team."
