Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton is confident of securing Andy Carroll to a new contract.

Carroll is contracted to Newcastle until June 2013 but with clubs such as Wolves and Stoke City monitoring his situation, United are understood to be in ongoing talks with him over a new deal, says the Sunday Sun.

"We are incredibly confident that he's a young player who's got a bright future here," said Hughton, in response to a query over progress on contract negotiations.
