Newcastle boss Hughton confident of big season from fresh Coloccini

Newcastle United boss Chris Hughton has no doubt they will benefit from Fabricio Coloccini's World Cup snub.

The Argentina defender failed to make Diego Maradona's final squad.

Hughton now hopes the ex-Deportivo la Coruna stopper can go on to have a successful season back in the top flight.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "I felt for him not being included in the World Cup squad.

"What was Jonas Guiterrez's joy was Coloccini's disappointment.

"That was a shame, but the benefit for us is he will be fresh after the summer.

"There was not a threat of injury, and that can only be a good thing for Newcastle."
