Newcastle United caretaker manager John Carver is convinced about the quality of Remy Cabella.
Carver has accepted the challenge of getting the player to work harder in the coming weeks.
"He certainly looked stronger at Chelsea last weekend. We know he's got talent, but he's got to start working hard for the team," he said. "He did that at Chelsea and he's done it again in training this morning. He sees this as an opportunity because he came over here as a little bit of a star in France and he's come to Newcastle and not had many opportunities.
"He got an opportunity last week against one of the best sides in the Premier League and did very well, but he's got to maintain that and he's got to do it now. I'm sure the fans saw what he did last week and they'll be excited and I'm hoping we'll get the same response against Southampton. It does take time, especially for the foreign guys, to adopt to Premier League football.
"We saw that with Yohan Cabaye when he came here and we saw that with Moussa Sissoko and he'll be no different. Very rarely do they fit in quickly and hit the ground running."
