Newcastle United boss Rafa Benitez is keen on a reunion with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.

LA Galaxy confirmed yesterday that Gerrard, 36, will leave the MLS outfit once his contract expires at the end of the year.

Gerrard has now revealed he has a number of options on the table and indicated he may not yet be ready to retire from playing.

This would rule out a return to Anfield, but ex-Reds boss Rafa Benitez could move for his former captain.

Gerrard's arrival could be just the boost Newcastle require to secure instant promotion back to the Premier League this season.
