Newcastle boss Benitez given all clear to return to coaching

Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez has been cleared to return to the sidelines after missing the clash against Swansea City following a hernia surgery.

Benitez was not present during Newcastle's 1-0 victory over Swansea on Sunday due to an infection following his hernia surgery but as a huge boost for the Magpies, the Spaniard has been given the all-clear from his doctor to resume his managerial responsibilities from Tuesday onwards.

Benitez's assistant Paco Moreno had said after the win against the Swans: "Rafa stayed at home and it's what we wanted. We don't want to risk anything with him, with his help, and also to do the job and give to Newcastle three points.

"After the game he rang and he has congratulated everybody, especially the players because they have done a massive job and we are very happy for the performance. He's very happy as well and hopefully he is joining us next week."
