Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce believes sacked England coach Steve McClaren will emerge a better manager for the experience.
"He will overcome the disappointment and come back stronger. Knowing him like I do he will do a full reassessment of himself and re-evaluation.
"It is important he takes enough time off first before he comes back, but he will be as popular as Paul Jewell is at the minute when he is available and ready to come back in the Premiership.
"If and when some jobs become available he will be first on the list, just as previous England managers such as Glenn Hoddle, Graham Taylor and Bobby Robson were.
"It was a traumatic experience which Graham suffered but he came back from it. Steve has suffered a similar traumatic period. But he is a strong-minded character."
