Newcastle United boss Sam Allardyce has revealed Abdoulaye Faye has given him an unexpected selection headache.

He told the Evening Chronicle: "Abdoulaye Faye's here for his aerial dominance.

"Even though we've had a terrific start, on occasions that's slightly been missing from our defensive unit.

"You saw his dominance in that particular area against Everton in our last game and how important it was when Tim Howard was kicking a number of balls up the middle.

"He was firing them over their midfield and into defence but Abdoulaye coped excellently.

"Then we could go and play from there.

"It's a terrific asset to have for us and one that shone out."
