Newcastle United will track the progress of FC Utrecht star Ricky Wolfswinkel leading up to the January market.
The new Holland international was watched twice by Liverpool chief Kenny Dalglish last month, though no serious approach was made.
However, Newcastle did make an enquiry after Wolfswinkel last week about the striker's availability and price.
