Newcastle and Fulham target Ogunjimi wanted Spain move as first choice

Belgian international Marvin Ogunjimi always had Spain as his choice of destination despite reported interest from Premiership club's Fulham and Newcastle. The Genk striker signed for Real Mallorca on transfer deadline day, but will not complete the move until January because of delays in completing the paperwork.

"I have always loved the Spanish league, so it a great feeling for me to be going to play there," he told skysports.com.

"I am looking forward to going there in the New Year."

Asked about the potential interest from Newcastle and Fulham, he replied: "I was not aware directly of their interest, it was through the newspapers, however I had already made my mind up about Spain, maybe one day I will play in the Premier League because it is also a top league."
