Newcastle United have agreed to have a clause inserted in the contract of the next manager stating he has full control over team selection.
The Daily Mail says Newcastle chiefs have agreed on the proposal - which would include John Carver's new deal should he land the job fulltime.
Derby County boss Steve McClaren remains United's preferred choice and, while he would be willing to accept a transfer model in which chief scout Graham Carr has final say on incomings, interference with team selection would not be tolerated.
