Newcastle United are moving for Barnsley midfielder Jacob Butterfield.

The Mirror says Butterfield is a 'free agent' in the summer but Newcastle will have to pay for him because of his age. They will also try to avoid a tribunal by sorting out proper compensation to the tune of £2 million.

Sources close to Butterfield revealed the move was on last night and that Barnsley will let him head for Tyneside to discuss terms and have a medical.
