Newcaste, Brighton benefactors put them ahead of Burnley says Dyche

Burnley boss Sean Dyche explains that his side do not even have the same spending power as the three promoted clubs to the Premier League this season.

Burnley managed to avoid relegation last term in quite comfortable fashion and it is expected that the Clarets will spend significant amounts in the transfer market this summer to consolidate their top flight status.

With the large influx of TV money pouring in, one would expect Burnley to have strong spending power in the transfer market.

But manager Sean Dyche has quashed such assumptions and has revealed that his club is not even as financially strong as the promoted trio of Newcastle United, Huddersfield and Brighton & Hove Albion due to an absence of a wealthy benefactor.

"Newcastle are coming up, we're not going to catch them, they've got the owner's money, same with Brighton. Brighton's wage bill is above ours already," said Dyche.

"Then you've got Huddersfield. I believe their owners' wealthy but are running it steady, they want to run it more like a concern. So two of the three coming up are going to be above us immediately financially.

"A fan said to me 'we're the same as Newcastle now, because we get the same TV money'. They've got a fella behind them who is a billionaire, on 50,000 attendances and all the corporate and shirt sales.

"But that's how fans sometimes think, why are they spending more than us what we get the same TV deal? But often they have a benefactor who says 'go for your life'."
