New Zealand's Bertos cleared of any serious damage

New Zealand winger Leo Bertos will be free to travel with the national team after being cleared of any serious damage.

Bertos was the victim of two poor challenges by Australian players in Monday night's friendly and there were fears he may struggle to get up for the All Whites trip to Austria for more World Cup preparation.

But the Wellington Phoenix man said he was feeling good and should be fine whilst adding that he had not yet seen the tackles from Vince Grella and Tim Cahill.

''As soon as I went down after the second challenge I was pretty nervous - I couldn't feel anything in my leg and went numb - but thankfully the feeling came back and everything seems to be all right," he said.

''Everyone said they were pretty nasty challenges but I haven't had a chance to see them. They were probably spur-of-the-moment type of things but it is just a friendly, we're here to play football.''
