New Zealand international Elliott set for Wellington Phoenix deal

New Zealand veteran Simon Elliott is set to sign a short-term deal with A-League club Wellington Phoenix.

The 36-year old has reportedly been a target for the Phoenix in recent weeks and news coming out of NZ is that Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert missed this morning's training session to finalise the deal.

Elliott has not had a club since late last year when he was released by MLS outfit San Jose Earthquakes but despite that, has still been favoured by Herbert in the All Whites set up.

Elliott has been capped by New Zealand over 60 times and has played at the top level in England with Fulham and in the USA with the Quakes, Colorado Rapids and the LA Galaxy.
