The New York Red Bulls waived veteran midfielder Khano Smith on Thursday.
Smith was acquired from the Seattle Sounders FC in February in exchange for allocation money. He played in eight games, starting six.
The 28-year-old Bermudian made his debut on March 28 against New England at Giants Stadium, and provided the cross that caused a Revolution own goal in the 1-1 draw.
Seattle had selected Smith in November's MLS expansion draft. He played the previous four seasons in New England.
The Red Bulls are in last place in the MLS standings with a 2-15-4 record.
