New York Red Bulls will not be spending too much of their salary cap on new recruit John Rooney.

Red Bulls general manager Erik Soler suggests the younger brother of Manchester United star Wayne Rooney will be a low-risk, high-reward signing who will be on a very moderate sum for the 2011 season.

"He's a good midfielder and (we can play him) also behind the strikers. We think we can move him around," said Soler.

"He's got good working ability, good feet and it's a $43,000 risk."
