New York Red Bulls are being coy over their interest for Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Xabi is understood to be considering a move to MLS when his contract expires at the end of this season.

The LA Galaxy have rubbished claims of their interest, but NYRB are not so adamant in their denials.

The New York Post reports a MLS source said a move to New York was "not likely right now,'' a lukewarm denial.
