New York Red Bulls defender Chris Leitch is set to join San Jose Earthquakes. The San Jose Mercury says San Jose added depth to the back line by giving New York an undisclosed sum of allocation money and one of its eight international slots for Leitch, a team source said Sunday. The Quakes are expected to announce the trade today.

Leitch, 29, has been with the Red Bulls in Argentina, and is expected to join San Jose this week in Southern California.

The move leaves the Quakes with six international slots; they used another in a trade last season with Toronto to secure English midfielder Darren Huckerby.
