MLS club New York Red Bulls are believed to be considering an invite to play at the 2011 Emirates Cup in London. It has been revealed that the Red Bulls are set to play a tournament in Europe this summer and recent news has Arsenal's Emirates Cup penned as that particular competition.
The two-day tournament, held at North London's Emirates Stadium and hosted by the Gunners, usually runs in July or August and has always featured top European teams in a round robin format of four competitors.
In the past few years, the likes of Inter Milan, Celtic, Lyon, Rangers, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Real Madrid, Valencia, Hamburg and Paris Saint-Germain have competed.
The New York invite has not yet been set in stone but the fact Thierry Henry now plays with the Red Bulls is apparently a major factor in Arsenal's selection process.
