New York Red Bulls confirm Lindpere deal

New York Red Bulls have confirmed the signing of Estonian midfielder Joel Lindpere.

The club’s sporting director Erik Soler and head coach Hans Backe confirmed that the 28-year old has joined from Norwegian outfit Tromso IL.

"The only thing I know is about the Estonian guy (Lindpere). I've seen not many games, but at least five or six games with the national team and he also played in Norway,'' Backe said of Lindpere, describing him as "a typical wide left-wing, hard worker, very good left foot, very good on set plays, can also play central midfield and perhaps it's his best position nowadays.

"He still has his pace, but he's very good on the ball and he can be a very creative position in central midfield to feed the strikers.”

"I think it's almost done. I think he will arrive this week. I hope he will arrive and join us in Florida camp,'' Backe said. Soler confirmed as much, adding "He's just waiting for the final paperwork. It's supposed to be done this week, so he's coming with us to Bradenton and hopefully will be a good player for us.''
