New York Red Bulls coach Mike Petke is holding back Juninho for their clash with San Jose Earthquakes.
The former Vasco da Gama star is carrying a calf injury.
"He's likely going to be out this weekend. It's a situation that is being evaluated right now, a little issue with his calf,'' Petke told the New York Post. "We don't know the extent of it but my thought process is another West Coast trip, if there's any issues whatsoever, I'd rather have him 100 percent and rested for the home opener."
