New York Red Bulls defeated Velez Sarsfield Tuesday by a 2-1 score at the Villa Olympica, training center of Velez Sarsfield of the Argentinean First Division in Buenos Aires. Juan Pablo Angel secured the victory for New York after his team went ahead through an own goal. Head Coach Juan Carlos Osorio was happy with his team's effort.

"I wanted a good performance and good result," Osorio said following the match. "But I think the performance in both halves were good. The effort was absolutely outstanding. It was very hot. Our players are not used to that. But in the end, we won, deservedly. I am pleased. Everybody looked quite good today."
