New York Red Bull searching for a creative midfielder

MLS club New York Red Bull are hoping they can lure a creative midfielder to the club once the World Cup is over.

Head coach Hans Backe admitted that club needs another quality player in the centre of the pitch and would go about signing one along with a central defender so they have all bases covered.

"We look of course for attacking players, a creative player in the midfield,'' said Backe. "We have to look for the future to find a centerback (as well).''

Backe added that having a good central midfielder would free up recruit Joel Lindpere who could then be deployed wide and use his quality distribution from a wing.

"If you look at the shape of our team, Joel - if we get in the players we want, it more looks like we have to play a diamond with the type of players we have. And I think this team could do well playing a diamond with those types of players. (Lindpere would play) half-left I would say; but he could be on the bottom too, because he's a good distributor of the ball," he added.
