New York Red Bull drops third match in a row

New York Red Bull have dropped their third match in a row, losing 3-1 to Columbus Crew at Red Bull Arena.

Despite going into the match without leading striker Guillermo Barros Schelotto, the Crew managed to net three goals to overcome the Red Bulls and take a two-point lead on the Eastern Conference table.

It begun in the 35th minute when Eddie Gaven headed home a Frankie Hejduk cross before Andy Iro scored with his own header three minutes later.

The home side hit back with a little less than ten minutes remaining through Tony Tchani who netted his first league goal before Emilio Renteria rounded out the victory for the Crew when he intercepted a pass from New York defender Tim Ream and finished neatly past Bouna Coundoul.
