New York native Gaitan joins Boca Juniors

American midfielder Nick Gaitan is set to join Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors.

The 16-year old New Yorker has been tracked by the club since August last year and admits he cannot believe he is getting the opportunity to go to a club with such great tradition and history.

"It's not every day a kid gets to play for Boca Juniors, especially an American kid," Gaitan told MLSsoccer.com.

"I've been a Boca Juniors fanatic since I was five years old. This was always my dream to play for Boca Juniors and now it's coming true, so it's a great feeling."

And Gaitan is not short on setting lofty targets for his career which will kick off in the youth academy that has produced such names as Diego Maradona, Carlos Tevez and Juan Roman Riquelme.

"I want to play in the first division, whether at Boca Juniors or in the MLS or in Europe," he added. "Also, I'd like to represent my country in a World Cup."
