New York Jets owner distances himself from AS Roma purchase

A recent report had owner of NFL's New York Jets, Woody Johnson, and New York Giants owners, John Mara and Steve Tisch, set to buy a controlling stake in Italian Serie A outfit AS Roma.

Italian paper Il Manifesto said that three owners of New York NFL teams had put in a bid to buy the capital club, who are currently sitting fifth on the Italian league table.

But a more recent suggestion, in the New York Post, said that there were no plans for this to occur with a Jets source telling the publication Johnson had no intention of getting involved with Italian soccer.
