New York defender Ream urges Red Bulls teammates to lose the cockiness

New York Red Bulls defender Tim Ream has warned his teammates that they may have to lose their cocky nature if they want to remain at the top of the Eastern Conference table.

The Red Bulls dropped their second game of the season when they were humbled by Chivas USA 3-2 at Red Bull Arena on the weekend and Ream feels that the playing group showed up thinking that perhaps they had the contest won.

"We can't go in super-cocky and think we've got each and every game in the bag, because we don't,'' Tim Ream told the NY Post. "Obviously we went in last night and weren't mentally into the game. You see their record, and that was part of the reason we came out flat. We can't sit back and think we're going to win every game by two or three goals; it's just not going to happen in this league.

"Everybody's gunning for us. We're sitting at the top of the East still, and we're a big-money club. They spent as lot of money on getting the guys in, and teams are going to want to gun for us. We definitely have to figure out a way to step up our play mentally, physically, technically to beat these teams.''
