New York City striker David Villa is thrilled with his Spain recall.

The former Barcelona striker hasn't featured for his country since June 2014, so he is very thankful for the recall and put the post up within an hour of his good news.

"Thanks to those who trust me to wear this shirt again," Villa said, along with a picture of a Spain shirt.

He becomes one of only a few who have been selected to return to the national side after three years without a single cap to his name.

Spain host Italy on September 2, followed by an away trip to face Liechtenstein on September 5.
