New York City FC have made a contract offer to Chelsea star Frank Lampard. The London Evening Standard says the England international, who is Chelsea's record scorer with 211 goals, has been tempted by a move across the Atlantic before, when LA Galaxy made a bid last year. Galaxy have reignited their interest and have been linked with a £4m-a-year offer.
It is expected he will make a decision after he returns from England duty at the World Cup this summer, but he is free to listen to other clubs in the meantime.
New York City, who are a new MLS franchise and whose expansion rights were bought by Manchester City and the New York Yankees baseball team last year, will begin playing in the MLS in March 2015.
