New York City FC have announced a one-year affiliation with the Wilmington Hammerheads.
The MLS expansion franchise will link up with the USL PRO league side for the 2015 season which will give both clubs the opportunity to observe operations and share knowledge both on and off the pitch.
NYCFC sporting director Claudio Reyna was delighted to associate with the North Carolina-based Hammerheads who won the 2003 USL Pro Select League back in 2003.
"We have the opportunity here to develop a strong partnership for the mutual benefit of both clubs, including sharing technical and soccer experience," said Reyna.
"This affiliation will provide us with a fantastic option if we feel some of our younger players would benefit from valuable first team experience and to continue their progression at a great club that shares our playing philosophy.
"It's an exciting moment in the development of New York City FC."
