New Wales boss Giggs reveals talk with ex-Man Utd boss Fergie

Ryan Giggs has revealed he has talked to his ex-Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson about his new role as Wales manager.

Giggs was announced as the new Dragons manager on Monday.

It is his first senior management role after taking over United for four games in 2014. He then spent two years as an assistant under Louis Van Gaal before leaving in 2016.

When asked if he had tapped up Ferguson for some advice, Giggs replied: "It would be stupid not to. He's one of the greatest managers of all time.

"I spoke to him but I want to be my own manager. I'm my own person. I enjoyed my assistant role at Man United but I was itching to get back into football.

"I'm tremendously proud to manage my country. I had an interview on Thursday and for me it was an opportunity I couldn't turn down."
