VAR will be used in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday when Arsenal take on Manchester City at Wembley and supporters will be notified when a review is taking place.
The controversial Video Assistant Referee system was used in both semi-finals. But now, when the referee goes upstairs to Neil Swarbick, who has been handed the role of video assistant referee, a message saying "VAR Review" will appear on the big screens. However, a video replay will not be shown.
EFL chief executive Shaun Harvey told The Times: "This cup final will be the biggest game for VAR in England so far.
"If there is a notice on the big screen explaining why there is a delay to the game then we hope that will improve communication to fans inside the stadium and on television.
"If everybody in the stadium knows what is going on then that's part of the overall education of what VAR can achieve."
The main criticisms about the VAR system have been time delay and lack of transparency with supporters.
