Chris Coleman insists he signed for the perfect club following his decision to become Sunderland's new manager.
The 47-year-old made the decision on Sunday after quitting his post with the Wales national team on Friday.
"There are clubs in the Premier League that will get relegated and they're nowhere near the size of this club," he said. "I would probably have been linked with one of those.
"But I wasn't offered any of those jobs, I was offered this one and as soon as I was, it was the one that really excited me.
"You can go through your managerial career without ever managing a big club. I always wondered whether I'd get an opportunity to do that and I've got it now.
"There are probably half-a-dozen managers who can pick a club and say, 'I want to manage here or there'. I'm not a manager who can do that.
"I don't have that arrogance to say, 'I'm going to wait because I'm going to get this job or that job'.
"So when a club of this stature comes along and says, 'Would you fancy it?' My thought is, 'Yeah, absolutely, 100 per cent'. Because it's a huge football club and that's the magnet for me."
