The Premier League's new squad quotas did not help Tottenham's young English goalkeeper Ben Alnwick.
Alnwick, 23, was jettisoned from the Spurs 25-man list after they signed Stipe Pletikosa on a season-long loan from Spartak Moscow.
Not only is Pletikosa Croatian but, aged 31, is hardly the kind of arrival the Premier League had in mind when it formulated its plans. Especially if it means Alnwick is pushed out.
