West Ham United No2 Neil McDonald was delighted with the performance of their new players in victory over Sampdoria.
New boys Aaron Cresswell, Cheikhou Kouyate, Mauro Zarate and Diego Poyet all got their first taste of the Boleyn Ground on Saturday, which McDonald says will set them up well for the season ahead.
McDonald told whufc.com: "All the new lads have settled in well. We took Aaron off as a precaution, as he had a little knock to the knee so we wanted to make sure he was ok.
"Diego came on to get his foot in and pass the ball, and Cheik was all-action, driving forward with the ball and trying to win it back.
"We've been working on the tactical and technical side as well as the fitness, and it's a good time to get a victory leading into the Spurs game.
"That'll give everybody confidence and get them on the front foot raring to go for next week."
